Tots and Toddlers

Toddlers is running every Wednesday in March. We have lots of springtime crafts and activities planned. If you would like to come and join us, we offer a friendly welcome and lots of toys and activities for children from birth to school age. We meet in Fenny Compton Village Hall each Wednesday morning 9:45am-11:45am. £2 per family, 50p for additional children including refreshments. First week free. We are also now on Facebook.

Christmas seems a long time ago, and we have had another busy half term. We have celebrated Valentine's Day, Chinese New Year, and been looking at our favourite stories.
We have now been in our new building for six months, and we hope everybody has been and had a look. The children are enjoying their play and hopefully there will be further improvements coming in the near future.
We had a very successful Duck race, raising £1000. We would like to thank everyone who turned up and supported us and made the fundraiser a big success. Our next event will be the Easter Egg Hunt which is on Saturday 24th March. Please contact the committee members or call in if you would like to put your child's name down. We are always looking for new fundraising ideas, so if you would like to help please let us know.
After a quiet start, sessions are beginning to fill up, so if you have not yet registered your child, please call in and see us. We usually take children from 2½ and we offer the 15 hours Nursery Funding from the term after they are 3.

Over 60s

At our February meeting our speaker was a volunteer from The Air Ambulance. She gave us a very interesting and informative talk on the wonderful work they carry out. The Club presented her with a donation of £246.28 which the club had collected during 2017.
Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday 13th March at 2:30pm in Fenny Compton Village Hall and will take the form of A General Knowledge Quiz. Please come along and join us for afternoon tea with sandwiches and homemade cakes; you will be made most welcome.

Fenny Compton & District WI

Hopefully March heralds the start of spring and brighter weather. The dark month of February was brightened for WI members by our Valentine's Night Bubbly and Chocs Quiz. A set of fiendish questions were devised by our secretary Deborah, but helped by the aforementioned extras we battled though! And a great time was had by all.
February is obviously the month for quizzes and our WI sent a team to compete in the Warwickshire Federation of WIs Centenary Quiz. This fell after the deadline for this issue so, at the time of print, we do not know whether they have got through to the next round.
Next Meeting Wednesday March 14th. A talk by David Fry on Marton Museum of Bygones. In April we will be learning about the Bossa Nova and South American Music! Guests are welcome at all our meetings for a small charge of £5 which includes refreshments and a raffle ticket.
A date for your diary is our first Tea and Cakes afternoon of the year. This popular event will be held on Friday May 4th in the Village Hall. Come along and join in the fun. We will also be taking a table at the Dasset School's Farmers Market in May.
Crafts: We have joined the Poppy Project and are busy knitting and crocheting poppies for the display at St Mary Warwick to be held during October & November.

Fenny Compton Scout Group

Happy New Year to all. Fenny Compton Scouts are looking forward to an exciting year. As we enter our 5th year of scouting in the village, as many of you will know, there are a few changes to our group and structure; the group is thriving so much so that we have now opened our second Scout troop to meet the demand.
This year we have so much to look forward to including a County Camp where all the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers from across Warwickshire will come together for a weekend in May; various fundraising activities for both the group and for our two Scouts who will be attending the World Jamboree in America; and plans are in the pipeline for a family activity day in September to celebrate our 5th birthday. This is, of course, in addition to the activities our fantastic leaders organise on a weekly basis.
As always, we are looking for help to keep our group thriving; whether you have an hour to spare to help with admin or fancy helping out more regularly on camps or troop nights– there is always a job to do in Scouting!
