Neighbourhood Development Plan Referendum

The Fenny Compton Neighbourhood Plan was independently examined between May and August 2022 and the Examiner recommended that the Plan should proceed to referendum.
The referendum will be asking whether the community wish to see the District Council use the Neighbourhood Plan to decide planning applications.
The referendum for the Fenny Compton Neighbourhood Plan will be held on Thursday 2 March 2023 at the Village Hall.

A number of documents have been produced in order to help you make a decision on how to vote. These documents can be viewed on the District Council's Link - https://www.stratford.gov.uk/planning-building/fenny-compton-neighbourhood-plan.cfm
Alternatively, printed versions are available to view at Stratford-on-Avon District Council's offices, Elizabeth House, Church Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, and Stratford-upon-Avon Library and Southam Library during normal opening hours.

South Warwickshire Health Matters – Survey on Primary Healthcare Provision

This communication concerns the provision of GP and other health services as part of the new Upper Lighthorne development of 3,000 houses. As such, it affects us all, whether you live in Upper Lighthorne or in one of the neighbouring settlements, especially one with an existing doctors' surgery such as Fenny Compton.

We have recently become aware that the provision of GP services for Upper Lighthorne is not a settled matter. Proposals are actively being considered that would not provide any GP services in Upper Lighthorne, but instead require residents to register at existing practices in neighbouring villages, including the one in Fenny Compton. The Parish Council, along with 18 other parish councils and meetings, have come together under the name South Warwickshire Health Matters (SWHM) with a common purpose to encourage the NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB) to make the vital decisions that will affect future health provision in all of our communities. We have the support of district and county councillors, and our MP.

SWHM have compiled a statement of joint objectives for GP and health services which we include below. We ask that you complete the ICB survey intended to help them make the appropriate decisions. We will communicate further on this in due course, but for the moment we would encourage you to complete the ICB survey.

South Warwickshire Health Matters – Statement of Objectives

1. No resident of Upper Lighthorne should have to travel outside of Upper Lighthorne to receive GP services.

We recognise that residents of Upper Lighthorne currently travel for primary healthcare, but the objective should be that this should no longer be necessary after a certain level of occupancy of the new Upper Lighthorne developments.

2. No surrounding parish should suffer a degradation of GP services as a consequence of primary healthcare provision for Upper Lighthorne.

A risk of relying on existing neighbouring GP services to take on Upper Lighthorne patients is that these services become over-stretched. Dedicated provision for Upper Lighthorne is essential, and will likely reduce load on neighbouring services, but must not result in a reduction of existing GP services in surrounding parishes.

3. On site provision should be made available as soon as practically possible.

The longer it takes to open a facility on site, the more new residents will attempt to register with facilities in surrounding villages, risking over-subscription, or difficulty in registering. The Integrated Care Board (formerly CCG) must reach a conclusion as soon as is practical so that options are not limited simply as a consequence of delay.

New 123+ Waste Service

What is the 123+ waste collection service?

1 Food waste collection, every week using a food caddy (a small kitchen caddy for inside the property) and a larger food waste bin to use outside and put out for collection

2 A recycling collection, every two weeks using a wheeled bin for mixed recycling

3 A refuse collection, every three weeks using the existing grey wheeled bin

+ Garden waste collection, every two weeks using the existing green wheeled bin

Warwickshire County Council has recently launched an online survey asking for the feedback of anyone who lives, works or studies in Warwickshire to help inform the development of our refreshed Council Plan.

In early 2020 we launched a new Council Plan, which was swiftly followed by the arrival of a global pandemic. As we all know only too well life changed for every one of us.? As we step forward from this extraordinary chapter we are refreshing our five-year Council Plan to take account of the challenges ahead of us and to better understand the things that are most important to Warwickshire people.

VASA Volunteer Drivers

During the pandemic, VASA continued working non-stop across south Warwickshire and Rugby district offering its transport services and has provided transport for over 1,000 Covid vaccine appointments

However, there is now a shortfall of volunteers as the demand grows for VASA's services

Volunteers are trained and Enhanced DBS checked
