Fenny Compton Footpath Group

Fenny Compton Footpath Group was formed in 1997 in conjunction with Warwickshire County Council and the Parish Council. We meet for 3-hour work sessions every month on a Sunday morning to maintain the parish's footpaths and bridleways.

For more information see their Facebook page.

We did plenty of strimming in June, the bridleway up Gredenton Hill is now clear and the farmer up The Slade has also been mowing and spraying our paths which has saved us a lot of work. There is still a bit to do at the boundary with Avon Dassett, but we are getting there. No doubt the recent rain will get the grass growing again but we are almost on top of things.

So, with the strimming almost done, for now, we are looking forward to some more interesting work. We have a few projects on the way including replacing a gate and the boards on a bridge that we installed years ago. I will let you know how we got on in the next issue.

There are about 10 of us in the Group and we meet up every 4th Sunday from 9am to 12. The work is not hard or difficult, but it is very rewarding and helps to keep the paths in good order. If you like the sound of it and want to try it out call Brian Peers - details in The Directory. Equipment and on-the-job training is provided and there is no obligation to be available for every session. We are also on Facebook so you can follow us there for regular updates on what we've been doing.

Have a great summer and enjoy the footpaths.

If you would like to get involved, please call me on Brian Peers 770 644 or email us on fc.fpg@btinternet.com. Have a look at the Group's Facebook page where you can see what we get up to month by month.
