Fenny Compton Church

Fete: The PCC of Avon Dassett and Fenny Compton Parish would like to thank everyone who helped with Church Fete on Saturday 9th June. The total raised was £3,574, a fantastic result for which we are grateful to each and every person who contributed, whether their part was large or small. There are no source of funds for the church other than those we raise ourselves within the villages, so we depend on everything we can raise.

Harvest Service: The Fenny Compton Harvest Service will be held in the Parish Church at 6pm on Sunday 23rd September. We will gather to thank God for the harvest this year and for all the other blessings we enjoy. Everyone is welcome.

Fenny Compton Methodist Church

Coffee Mornings: Coffee Mornings are held each Friday 10:15am-12noon with lots of fun upstairs for Mums and Toddlers. We would be pleased to see you at our Church services or Coffee Mornings - there is always a great welcome at the Chapel.

Messy Church

Messy Church will be on Sunday 16th September at 3:30pm in Fenny Compton Village Hall. The story will be the Prodigal Son and the crafts, song and prayers will be about that parable. Tea, coffee and cakes will be served throughout the afternoon.

Just a Bite

On Monday 24th September, the annual Harvest Produce Sale will be held alongside the Just a Bite lunch from 12noon to 1:30pm in Fenny Compton Village Hall in aid of church funds. A light lunch of home-made soup, roll and cheese costs £3.50, with homemade cake, tea and coffee also available.

The Dassett CofE Primary School

After 6 years, Alison Hine has relinquished her post as Headteacher of the School and is moving on to pastures new. We wish her well. From the beginning of term on 4th September Kate Gover will be the interim headteacher, coming here from Clav-erdon Primary School

Violin School

The Village Violin School Beginners, with Dan Patten, Laura Scott–Brown, Emily Heron, Olivia Swinson and Zoe Grant played Tiny Tunes at the Leamington Spa Competitive Festival on 16th June. It was a great afternoon, rehearsing and watching other violin players too. The performance went really well with everyone doing their very best and our group was awarded joint First Prize and the Twentyman Trophy to be shared with the North Birmingham Suzuki Group.
The Village Violin School Improvers took part in the Composition Class at the Festival and were awarded joint First Place and the James Barralet Trophy for the outstanding performance of composition, 'Dazzle' which came in three parts.

Welcome to back to a new year. We hope you have enjoyed the summer holidays and the children are rested and ready for the Autumn term. We hope the children who started school have settled well.
We would like to thank the Walter and Fletcher families for their generous donation from the Vintage Park Up in July. Also, thank you to everyone who went along and supported the event and look forward to an even bigger Park up next year. We appreciate the hard work that goes on behind the scenes organising to make sure things go smoothly. Please look out for our future fundraising events, we look forward to seeing you there.
If you have a child aged 2-2½ and have not contacted us, please call in and see us to have a chat and a look around. We have sessions still available, but these will fill up quickly so please get in touch.

Fenny Compton & District WI

We have certainly had a brilliant Summer weather wise and we have also had an enjoyable couple of months with the WI.
July seems quite a while ago now. Although our July meeting faced strong opposition being on the same night as England's game against Croatia, we had a good turn out and probably a more enjoyable evening, as Paula Cornwall entertained us royally with her tales and exploits of the ‘Flying Housewife' the first woman to fly around the world.
Our August meeting was a bring and share supper in a member's gar-den with husbands and partners invited. We were very lucky with the weather as it was not too hot, and we missed the rain. Our members excelled themselves with the variety and quality of the food, so a good time was had by all.
Some of us went to see the latest productions by the Mikron Theatre when their touring Narrow boat was on our stretch of the canal. They always put on a good show.
It does not seem possible that Autumn is almost upon us. Our Wednesday 12th September meeting is a talk by one of our members, Lone Squire, entitled ‘My Life before Fenny Compton' which should be interesting.
Tea and Cakes Afternoon: Friday 14th September 3pm-4:30pm in Fenny Compton Village Hall. All welcome.
Craft Group: We delivered a carrier bag full of poppies to WI House Warwick from our Craft Group and we are now concentrating on hats and scarves for the homeless and it will soon be time for items for the Christmas boxes.
Guests are welcome to any of our meetings for a small charge of £5 which includes the cost of refreshments and a raffle .

Any information can be obtained form our secretary Deborah Lea on 770 652.

Fenny Compton Scout Group

During the summer holiday we put a pause to our weekly scouting activities – this is the time for longer-haul trips. At the end of July, 20 of our Scouts went to Dorset for a jam-packed week of activities including mountain biking in the New Forest, a camp cooking challenge, fossil hunting on the Jurassic Coast and a wild and wonderful day of coasteering. A particular highlight was our overnight stay on Brownsea Island, sleeping in the same spot where Baden Powell ran his first camp in 1907. The Scouts had a great week, full of adventure, challenge, and friendship.
Our new term begins with a day of celebration on Saturday 8th September – our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, their leaders, and parents will come together to celebrate 5 years of the group. With over 90 young people and over 30 leaders and helpers, we are a thriving group and looking forward to many more years of Scouting in the village.
